Cover to Cover  Ho Tam

Cover to Cover is a small survey of Ho Tam’s publishing practice, which has been a focus of his since 2010. HOTAM and POSER are two ongoing projects among his collection of works from this period. HOTAM is a self-published/self-titled book series using the magazine format, treating each issue as an independent project, exploring both form and content. Similar in format, POSER is a series of snapshot photography books. Cover to Cover is about the artist behind the lense -- the artist as traveler or outsider who photographs other travelers and people in transit.

Ho Tam was born in Hong Kong and did his studies in Canada and the US. He practices in multiple disciplines including photography, video, painting and print media. His feature documentary film Books of James was awarded Outstanding Artistic Achievement (Outfest, LA) and Best Feature Documentary (Tel Aviv LGBT Film Festival). He has also published several series of artist books and zines. Tam is an alumni of the Whitney Museum Independent Studies Program, Bard College (MFA) and the recipient of various fellowships and grants.
