Summer Window Show: New Urban Conditions

Call for Projects: Summer Window Show 2019

Deadline: Sunday, May 19, 2019 11:59 pm

What do we mean when we speak of urban conditions, on a city or neighbourhood scale? Montreal and the Mile End are seen as spaces where artistic culture abound and are therefore perpetually changing. What role do artists play in how we interpret and navigate the city and the neighbourhood? We are looking for proposals which explore new urban conditions and the possible futures of the city as a creative space. articule invites artists and collectives to submit their proposals for an art project to be shown in the window while the gallery is closed for the summer (July 2019). This initiative aims to garner the attention of neighbours and passersby by filling the window and/or the space in front of it. Previous experience showing work in galleries is not necessary. Once installed, the project must not require the assistance of the centre's employees for the duration of the exhibition. Video works and works needing some kind of activation or start-up are therefore not accepted. articule offers an artist fee of $1000.

For more information, visit our website articule.org. We ask all applicants to read our mandate and Basis of Unity before submitting. Please note late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted. Only selected applicants will be contacted.

Send your submissions, including your CV, 5 to 10 support images and the completed submission form that you can find here , to programmation@articule.org by Sunday, May 19, 2019 11:59 pm.
