Credos  |  05/08/2020 - 11:00

LOCATION: Ste-Thérèse de l'Enfant-Jésus, 8200 rue St-Hubert (entrance of bazaar on rue Mistral), Montreal, H2P 1Z2

OTHER DATES: Saturday May 9, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm; Sunday May 10, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Credos is a series of table-top presentations around the theme of beliefs (or, credos; also root word of credit) to be held in church bazaars around Laval and Montreal. The theme of belief is important because of the curiously anachronistic-feeling centrality it has in debates around the proper identity of Western democracies today. That sounds exaggerated, but just think of the discourses around refugees, “Canadian (and Quebec) values,” laïcité (secularism) and the lurking white supremacism and lurches toward ethno-nationalism...

arrow_rightMONITOR 13: Dance on my head and scratch my heart
12/11/2019 - 19:00

MONITOR 13 invites the viewer to consider the indecipherable traces and charges of the past. It is an invitation to dance to the meditative, moving images in the program. Through letters, biographies, surfaces, sounds and architectures, the curators have assembled the films to gesture not only towards things lost and hidden along the way, but their connections to living and renewal. MONITOR is SAVAC’s longstanding experimental South Asian film and video program that holds steady engagement with an international community of artists, curators and critics, initiating dialogues around...  - MONITOR 13: Dance on my head and scratch my heart | Special projects

The discussion takes place as part of the exhibition The Sisters' Fart Corner, by Creagen. The Sisters’ Fart Corner presents a body of drawings and comics that explicitly explores Creagen’s mixed-race Japanese-Canadian heritage and investigates areas of representation (contemporary/historical art, and medical) connected to women’s bodies in sex and sexual...  - The Sisters' Fart Corner | Discussion and Workshops
