articule Members’ Show 2018

Mirror mirror, tell me...

Who is articule? Over the past few years, the members of articule have been reflecting on the practice of art-making as well as on the practice of self-reflection in the context of marginalisation. In the spirit of initiating an exercise of collective discussion, the theme of articule's 2018 Members' Exhibition will focus on self-reflection as well as a reflection of the others: the members of articule, the community of artists with various practices, and the free agents of the universe… Who are they? What are we? To reach this reflection, the centre’s yearly exhibition is offering its members the opportunity to present an...

Gelare Khoshgozaran
Gelare Khoshgozaran  |  04/19/2018 - 19:00

DEAVANAH/دیـــــــــــــــوانـــه remembers an event that occurred in the past, in one language, as it unfolds in the present, in another. The two are only ever consolidated in the state of lunacy, while the deav (demon) in deavanah (lunatic) attests to the right of the alien to bestiality.

Gelare Khoshgozaran is an interdisciplinary artist and writer working across video-installation, performance and writing. Born and raised in Tehran and living in Los Angeles, she envisions the city as an imaginary space between asylum as 'the protection granted to a political refugee' and 'a mental institution.' Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at the Queens Museum of Art, Museo Ex-Teresa Arte Actual, Malmö Konsthall, LAXART, Human Resources, and Interstate Projects, among others. Gelare was the...

arrow_rightSlide Projection Night: Magic Lantern VI
08/24/2018 - 19:00

Join us for our sixth annual Magic Lantern, where 21 artists and audience members witness together unedited, unrevealed work that neither audience nor the artists have seen before. Magic Lantern is a one-night only event that plays on old kindred gatherings around the slide projector. This past spring, participants shot a roll of slide film and submitted their unprocessed rolls. In developing and mounting them we reveal the photos for the first time, night of. Vulnerability is thus celebrated in a multitude of ways, where everyone confronts their own challenges, perfectionism,...  - Magic Lantern VI | Special projects
