Performance: Clapback
Performance: Clapback  |  05/25/2017 - 18:30

The colloquium “Mnemonic Cinemas/Performances: Blackness & Embodiment” will be preceded by a two-day (May 23rd-24th) QTPOC dance workshop on embodiment with acclaimed New York based artist Niv Acosta, at Espace Sans Luxe. Additionally, Niv will also perform his recent performance Clapback at articule artist-run centre on May 25th as part of the conference procedures. Niv Acosta’s performance, like his work, troubles the “institution” of time and history and how these modes of control collapse cultures at the margins. The colloquium and accompanying performance, demonstrates the necessity for creating different “temporal” lines of history, specifically one that is driven by memory.

niv Acosta is a dance artist, educator, black Dominican, transexual, queer native New Yorker. He attended the...

DEAVANAH/دیـــــــــــــــوانـــه remembers an event that occurred in the past, in one language, as it unfolds in the present, in another. The two are only ever consolidated in the state of lunacy, while the deav (demon) in deavanah (lunatic) attests to the right of the alien to bestiality. Gelare Khoshgozaran is an interdisciplinary artist and writer working across video-installation, performance and writing. Born and raised in Tehran and living in Los Angeles, she envisions the city as an imaginary space between asylum as 'the protection granted to a political refugee' and 'a...  - Gelare Khoshgozaran | Special projects

In the spirit of initiating an exercise of collective discussion, the theme of articule's 2018 Members' Exhibition will focus on self-reflection as well as a reflection of the...  - MIROIR : MIRROR | Exhibitions
