10/16/2015 - 17:00

articule has the pleasure of opening the exhibition Silent Citizen by Bambitchell (Toronto) with a discussion between the artists and Nazik Dakkach (Montreal), articule's former Programming Assistant, at 5 PM. Bambitchell is the artistic collaboration between Sharlene Bamboat and Alexis Mitchell. They have produced mixed media installations since 2008. Their practice uses queer and feminist frameworks in order to reimagine borders, historical patterns of movement and mobility, labour, migration and memory. These frameworks, often showcased through irony and a camp aesthetic, invite...  - Silent Citizen | Discussion and Workshops

10/09/2015 - 20:00

As part of the fifth edition of VIVA! Art Action, articule presents performances by Emilie Monnet and Sandra Johnston at the Ateliers Jean-Brillant. The events will highlight the work of these artists of different generations and origins yet who share an interest in working on memory. Based in Montreal, Emilie Monnet’s interests lie in the intersection between memory, language and imagination and how memory weaves together the symbolic realms of dreams and mythology. Her work combines performance, theatre and media art, allowing her to examine the traces of history in our present...  - VIVA! Art Action 2015 | Special projects

10/07/2015 - 20:00

As part of the fifth edition of VIVA! Art Action, articule presents performances by Emilie Monnet and Sandra Johnston at the Ateliers Jean-Brillant. The events will highlight the work of these artists of different generations and origins yet who share an interest in working on memory. In the work of Sandra Johnston, a visiting artist from Northern Ireland, memory is created through actions that become relics salvaged from a forgotten moment. Johnston works in the area of site-responsive actions, video installations and durational drawings. Her art often proposes alternative approaches for...  - VIVA! Art Action 2015 | Special projects

arrow_rightFitting
09/24/2015 - 19:00

This workshop will explore ideas of belonging and indifference in relationship to our clothing. Garments reflect our personal identity, allowing us to “fit” into a social group, but they also reproduce the prevailing consumer ideologies of society. They protect our bodies but also connect us with a social and globalized world. We all read clothes symbolically, connecting individual knowledge with culturally produced ideas, but we are often unaware of the conditions in which they were produced. In this workshop we will explore our garments in new ways, looking at the imperceptible...  - Scènes de la vie quotidienne à Montréal (on belonging and the politics of belonging) | Discussion and Workshops

arrow_rightPinned Down (or how to keep hiding thousands of needles in a haystack)
09/23/2015 - 12:00 to 18:00

Maria Ezcurra's project Pinned Down (or how to keep hiding thousands of needles in a haystack) is a collective action-installation articulated around a construction made of 100,000 needles and created in situ for this occasion. Joining Ezcurra in the performance, the public will be invited to choose a pin and to receive a black ribbon from the artist. This special project will take place at articule on a very significant date, the one-year anniversary of the mass kidnapping and murder of 43 students from the Ayotzinapa Teacher's College in Mexico, aiming to catalyze a...  - Pinned Down (or how to keep hiding thousands of needles in a haystack) | Special projects
